Poem : Walking The Path Alone  🔼

Poet : Jotsna Jari

The road is covered in winter fog

Trying to keep warm

by lighting a small fire in front of the shop

The trees are alone in the mist of winter…

I remember the old banyan tree very much

Who knows… how he is ?

Does the Medlar tree by the school pond

spread flowers like that today?

Oh I don’t know.

The row of mango jackfruit trees in our house

has become greener day by day.

Life is about searching & understanding

and walking the path to know…

Medlar Tree –

This is a medium-sized evergreen tree found in tropical forests in South Asia, Southeast Asia and northern Australia. English common names include Spanish cherry, medlar, and bullet wood. This is called Bakul(বকুল) in Bengal.  Its timber is valuable, the fruit is edible, and it is used in traditional medicine. As the trees give thick shade and flowers emit fragrance, it is a prized collection of gardens.  ]
